TOTD #8: Keeping track of photo-shoots with Evernote

If you are anything like me you’ll end up with messages from models from several different websites plus email all about one shoot. You start on Purestorm, then you get a message on Facebook and eventually you swap to email. Add to that photos and details of locations, discussions with MUAs and stylists and it becomes a nightmare! It’s made worse when you are away from your main computer the night before the shoot and you only have your phone with you.

I’ve now found the answer with a free set of apps called Evernote. With Evernote you create notebooks on your personal space on the Evernote server and then add things to those notebooks like text notes, photos etc. But, this is only the beginning, there are add-ons for major browsers that allow you to “clip” entire pages or sections of web pages to any of your notebooks. In addition you can send emails directly to a special email address and by including a specific notebook in the subject the email will be filed in that notebook.

There are apps for iPhone, iPad and android devices plus desktop apps for OSX and Windows and you can also access all your notes from a personal web address.

It really is an amazingly well though out set of apps. I don’t only use it for keeping shoot information together, if I see something interesting while browsing the web I just clip it to the appropriate notebook. I have notebooks for blog ideas, photo inspirations, possible locations, people to work with – the possibilities are pretty much endless.

There is loads of information on the Evernote website including free downloads. For iPhone and iPad just search the App Store.

And before you ask, I have no affiliation with Evernote at all! I just think it is a great idea and it’s FREE.
